My upcoming Seattle writing classes include:
Writing’s always been an important part of my life.
I grew up writing poems and short stories, as well as some articles and poems.
After graduating from college, I spent the 80s and 90s writing poems and short stories and developing both my play writing and screenwriting skills. My anthology collection of my short stories, The Hungry Time, was published in 1996.
In 1998, I began teaching some writing classes in Seattle. My first class was called Writing Fiction and Short Stories.
In 2006, after writing and producing several successful independent films, I added another class, Start Writing Your Screenplay.
In 2009, I added a third Seattle writing class: Start Writing Your Novel.
All of my writing classes meet in Seattle on the U.W. campus; they are sponsored by the University of Washington’s ASUW Experimental College and Classesandworkshops.com.

Some of my favorite student comments about my writing classes:
I spent two years not writing and getting ragged about it. I have to say that during your class I started writing and I’ve been writing my b_lls off ever since. It worked for me totally. – Andy J. (Seattle)
_____ and I had lunch together today and we were commenting on how much we appreciated the gracious and respectful manner in which you taught the class. We both feel SO thankful to have ‘happened’ to have chosen your writing class, and we want to say THANKS NILS! The group you’ve birthed and created has lots of energy! – M.C., Seattle
